What may be happening

Message delivery and notification are different transitions. The application may need permission to operate in the background, receive push data, display a visible alert, make a sound and retain the notification long enough for the person to recognise and act on it. Battery controls, notification categories, focus modes, account synchronisation and application state can each alter that pathway.

What the evidence does—and does not—prove

Finding the message inside the application proves that the content reached an account or later synchronised. It does not prove that the notification pathway operated at the required time.

Examine the pathway

    Confirm the intended outcome

    Decide whether the requirement is immediate notice, a visible reminder, a sound or simply eventual delivery.

    Check the complete notification route

    Review account sync, background operation, notification permission, category, sound and focus settings.

    Test under ordinary conditions

    Lock the phone, leave the application closed and test using the normal network and power state.

    Confirm recognition and response

    A visible alert still fails if it cannot be noticed, understood, found again or acted upon.

Evidence boundary

A delayed or missed notification does not by itself establish which transition failed. Provider outages, network delay and sender behaviour remain alternatives.
